Rae Howell

Rae Howell is an award-winning composer, multidisciplinary artist, and director of multi-artform projects. She is founding director of Sunwrae, a creative enterprise developing projects at the intersection of science and art; and Opportune Pianos, her ventures as a piano artisan. She has worked professionally in many places over the globe, producing a large repertoire of music and art projects, publications, collaborative recordings and sound designs.

Rae's work as an artist is driven by environmental concerns that have emerged from the buzz of a bee (Bee-Sharp Honeybee), the call of a bird (Sonik Birds), or the hammer of a piano (The Piano: Hook, Line & Tinker). Her creative research thrives at this convergence, developing work across a broad range of genres in collaboration with performing and visual artists, in film, theatre, dance, concert hall, and multimedia productions.
