Peta Murray
Peta Murray is a writer-performer and dramaturg. Her short fiction has been published in Sleepers Almanac and New Australian Stories and her essays in Sydney Review of Books, The Mekong Review and TEXT Journal. Known for award-winning plays, Wallflowering and Salt, she holds an Australian Government Centenary Medal for Services to Society and Literature.
A Senior Lecturer in the School of Media and Communication, RMIT University, Melbourne, Peta’s research focus is art-based activism, secular rituals and innovative methods for collaboration based on radical joy, communal meaning-making and a commitment to the art of everyday self-expression through acts of “meaningful irreverence”. As co-founder of what was The Groundswell Project, and as a current board member of All the Queen’s Men she is committed to fostering civic conversations about queerness, ageing, illness, death and dying, and counternarratives to ageism.
