Michelle Scott Tucker

Michelle Scott Tucker is an acclaimed Australian author whose work explores history, identity, and social justice. Her debut book was a biography of the woman who established the Australian wool industry, Elizabeth Macarthur: A life at the edge of the world (2018). She is also the co-writer, with Torres Strait Islander Aaron Fa’Aoso, of Aaron’s memoir So Far, So Good (2022) and an award-winning middle-grade novel, Spirit of the Crocodile (2025). Michelle is currently writing a biography of Louisa Lawson (1848-1920)—farmer, feminist, journalist, publisher, and mother of Henry—to be published by Text in October 2027. Her research is supported by Creative Australia and a Visiting Fellowship at the State Library of NSW. Michelle is also, and proudly, a Macedon Ranges local.
